What is it?
In 2014, three Maine educators–Ed Brazee, Jill Spencer, and Chris Toy–decided to repurpose instead of retiring. Ed suggested to Jill and Chris that there were 70 million Baby Boomers out there and many of them needed help with their digital lives. Wouldn’t it be interesting and fun to find ways to help them! We co-founded BoomerTECH Adventures and began to brainstorm services we could provide. Because all three of us were active in the Maine Learning Technology Initiative we work mainly with Apple devices.

How long does each course take?
For most of these courses, we recommend 4 weeks at 1-2 hours each week. Because these courses are virtual, we offer them through an open enrollment process.
WHAT technology is required?
A strong internet connection (or access to one) and a Mac computer, iPad, or iPhone to access videos and articles. (Please note these courses are based on iOS devices (iPhone and iPad) and Mac computers. The Zoom courses are not iOS or Mac dependent.
WHy aren’t Boomertech adventures classes offered online through zoom?
Our experience tells us that unless everyone has strong and reliable high-speed internet, connections are unreliable, which is very frustrating and stressful. Using videos and readings, along with personalized support from us has been more effective for our students.
How can i get help when and if I need it?
You will have email addresses for BoomerTECH Adventures instructors (Jill, Chris, & Ed). You can email us and we’ll be happy to assist you (text, call, or Zoom). Please note that we offer a Lifetime Guarantee and pledge to always respond to and answer your questions. Our goal for every student and every course is for you to learn as much as you can from your course, enjoy it, and have fun! We are here to help you do that.
WHAT format are these courses in?
We’ll send you the courses you want as PDFs via email. Each course booklet is 6-8 pages with information about the course, suggestions on how to use the course, summaries of the instructional videos, and links to all videos and articles.
HOw long and how often may i use the course?
Once students register for a course the course is theirs to use as long as they wish. Since our courses are self-paced that means that students decide when and how they will learn. Some students will move ahead at a very fast pace while others will pick a topic per week and stick with that. Since all the course resources are provided when you register, it is a student’s decision how to proceed.
WHY should i buy this course when i can get this information for free online?
We love the internet too! There are all sorts of articles, video tutorials, and forums about learning to use an iPhone/iPad/Mac. Some of these resources are very useful. But a lot of the resources available are uneven—difficult to follow, unfocused, too long, and many don’t answer the questions you have about your iPhone/iPad/Mac! The high quality, ad-free videos in our courses are clear, simple, and offer step-by-step instructions. Finding information about your iPhone/iPad/Mac is the easy part, but finding really GOOD information is much more difficult. In our courses, everything you need is in one place and at your convenience.
