Our academic program has open enrollment. Students start when they are ready and class times vary. We are flexible and can usually work around most schedules. For the most part, classes are one-on-one, but it’s possible we will create a small group working on the same goal.
The state of Maine replaced the GED brand tests with the High School Equivalency Test (HiSET) in 2014. The GED is no longer offered in Maine. The HiSET exam is available for Maine residents for FREE! The exam covers the same academic content as the GED. There are five separate exams that comprise the HiSET: Math, Reading, Writing, Social Studies, and Science. Passing all five exams will earn a student their High School Equivalency Diploma, this diploma carries the same legal standing as a traditional high school diploma. You can learn more about the HiSET exam here.
One-to-one tutoring is available in our Adult Education office located at MDI high school with certified teachers and skilled tutors. Testing is scheduled as needed and one student at a time. Call 288-4703 or email us at mdiae@mdirss.org for more information on how to get started.
